During the past few weeks, PE classes have been preparing for this Friday’s Field Day by playing and practicing some team games, fine-tuning manipulative skills, gross and fine motor skills. They have been able to further develop kicking, catching and throwing skills as well. Students have also worked on relay races, sprints, and tag games to keep them moving and getting physically fit. These activities help them to feel better, get some energy out, and build confidence.
In addition, Middle School students took advantage of the spring winds and experimented with Frisbee golf. The Early Childhood classes used basketballs to practice throwing, catching and shooting. They all had a great time!

We are thrilled to share that RELISH returned in person last Friday! The sun was shining, enabling us to be outdoors and seated in pods, in accordance with Covid protocols. Our two RELISH leaders were excited to return as well: Schechter parent and Board member Jason Kay was back at the keyboard, leading the singing with ruach (spirit); Music Tech teacher and IT Director Jamie Debicella accompanied on guitar.
For families new to the Schechter community this year, RELISH has been a favorite part of the Schechter experience for so many students and faculty members. Before Covid, we would gather together as a community in the Beit Tefilah every Friday morning to sing and dance with enthusiasm, hear stories from teachers and/or clergy members from the greater Hartford area, and welcome Shabbat. We always loved having parents and other special people join us for RELISH to sing and dance, and we hope that someday very soon we will be able to invite you all to join us again!
