Emissaries

Welcoming Young Israeli Emissaries

With the generous support from the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford , Schechter participates in the Israeli Young Emissary Program. Each year, the Greater Hartford Jewish community welcomes two young Israeli emissaries who work to make connections and strengthen ties between the American and Israeli Jewish communities. These young volunteers are Israeli citizens who have graduated high school and are deferring their service in the Israeli Defense Forces in order to serve abroad as emissaries.

Schechter is privileged to welcome a young emissary two days a week, who shares the Israeli culture with students through contemporary music, games, food and slang. The Young Emissary Program gives all Schechter students the chance to build a friendship with a young Israeli.
