Jonathan, Class of 2025
Today, we went on a water hike where we experienced wading through water that came to our waist. The water hike was part of the river Delta where the Jordan River flows into the Kinneret. I saw several plants that are among the seven species of Israel mentioned in the Torah, like fig trees and date palms. After that, we enjoyed a fun water park called Aqua Kef. At first I was a bit reluctant to go on the slides but I went on them they were spectacular. I truly embraced the fun in this water park.
We then went to the Kinneret Cemetery where we honored the graves of famous Jewish people like Naomi Shemer. I was amazed by her life story. We also learned about a poet named Rachel Bluwstein who wrote many poems with themes about the land of Israel, love, longing, and the Sea of Galilee. Finally, Maccabi (one of our counselors) told us about his grandmother, who is buried there, who spent years playing music for wounded Israeli soldiers. Our first week was over; it was time to get ready for Shabbat.
